Gumaca Bishop Victor Ocampo has passed away at the age of 71, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.
CBCP’s news website reported that Ocampo died of heart attack last Thursday (March 16) at a hospital in Gumaca, Quezon.
Ocampo was appointed as third bishop of Gumaca in 2015 by Pope Francis.
Prior this, he had served as chancellor of the diocese and member of the consultors.
The bishop, was born in Angeles City in 1952, was ordained priest in in 1977 in the Diocese of Balanga.
At balanga, he also served as diocesan administrator from 2009 to 2010 when the diocese had no bishop.
