Taytay Councilor Tobit Cruz addressed questions asking him why he is seemingly not as critical as the incumbent mayor as he was of the previous mayor, which were coupled with suspicions that he has been paid off or has been swallowed by the system.
In a Facebook post, Cruz explained that one reason for this is that Mayor Allan de Leon is easy to get in touch with.
Cruz said De Leon responds to messages, knows how to acknowledge shortcomings, and takes actions on concerns that he raises.
Cruz said De Leon is unlike his predecessor, who treated him like a leper whenever he visited the municipal hall for a dialogue.
He also said De Leon has not even been in his position for a year. The mayor’s job is not easy, and change cannot be expected to happen overnight.
The former mayor was in power for 15 years, so De Leon should not be judged immediately, he added.
In the meantime, Cruz said he would do his best to make Taytay a better place. He would criticize when necessary, and support when it would improve the town.
For now, we do what we can to make Taytay a better place to live in.
Cruz posted.
