The Taytay Municipal Council has approved an ordinance that would provide incentives to owners of idle lands that would allow these to be used for urban gardening efforts.
Taytay Councilor Tobit Cruz said the measure, his seventh ordinance, has been passed on third reading.
Cruz said this measure would put the lands to good use while giving livelihood to farmers.
“Sa ganitong paraan napakikinabangan ang lupa at nagkakaroon ng kabuhayan ang mga tao at ang mga magsasaka,” he said on Facebook.
He also said the ordinance has provisions to protect the rights of the property owners as well as those who would use it to plant crops.
