There’s a new scam that officials of the Mendez-Nuñez local government have uncovered.
The local government warned residents about people pretending to be Department of Energy personnel who visit houses supposedly to inspect the LPG gas regulators.
These people would then claim that the regulator is defective and would offer to sell a new one worth P4,000.
Meanwhile, they would actually damage the existing regulator so that the homeowners would be forced to buy the new one.
The local government advised residents to be wary and not to allow just anyone to enter their homes.
They should also report suspicious persons to authorities, it said.
