Laguna Rep. Ann Matibag has pushed for the elimination of trans fat from Filipinos’ diet in a bid to protect their health.
Matibag joined the Time’s Up for Trans Fat: A World Heart Day Press Conference by ImagineLaw and reiterated her support for moves to curb the use of trans fat.
Matibag said she was committed to becoming a champion for heart health for all Filipinos and has filed a bill that seeks to ban food with high trans fat content.
““The bill I filed in the House of Representatives seeks to prohibit the sale and manufacture of foods with high trans fat content. It also requires all trans fat free claims by food manufacturers to be verified by the FDA,” she said.
Filipinos’ hearts should be protected from this substance, she said.
“Kaya naman ang ating hugot ngayong World Heart Day, hindi tambakan ang puso ng mga Pilipino. Paalam trans fat, walang forever sa’yo!,” she said.
