Laguna police nab escaped detainee after a chase

The Laguna police have re-arrested a prisoner who escaped from the Laguna Provincial Jail in May this year.
The detainee was identified as Eddie Bongon, who was jailed in connection with a drug charge and who is also facing cases for attempted homicide and robbery.
Bongon had escaped from the Laguna Provincial Jail by climbing a tree and jumping over a wall.
The Laguna Provincial Jail subsequently received a tip that he was set to visit a relative in Pila.
But as operatives were about to nab him, he jumped on a motorcycle to escape toward Victoria.
He was shot by a prison guard but he still managed to flee.
The police alerted other authorities and a hot pursuit and dragnet operation were conducted.
Bongon was caught along the national highway in Calauan on June 12.
He was brought to a hospital for the treatment of his gunshot wound on the back before his transfer to the Laguna provincial jail.
