Santa Maria offers free mixed martial arts training

The Santa Maria government continues to offer free mixed martial arts training for kids every weekend, Mayor Cindy Carolino announced.
Carolino said the training sessions from 9 am to 11 am are open to children aged 10 and below, while the 1 pm to 4 pm sessions are open to children 11 years old and above.
The training is held at the SMES Covered Court.
Carolino said learning martial arts could steer the youth away from developing bad habits.
“Ito po ay isa sa mga makubuluhang activities para mahubog ang skills ng ating mga kabataan at para natin mailayo sila sa hindi magagandang gawain,” she said.
It would also keep them active and away from gadgets, she said.
“Syempre, para makatulong na rin sa mga mommy sa pag-iisip kung paano mababawasan ang screen time ng mga kids,” she said.
