Batangas to serve as site of ASEAN Logistics Connectivity Legacy Project

May 2, 2022 @ 10:11

Batangas province will serve as the home of smart logistics infrastructure that is expected to improve the Philippines’ interconnectivity with other countries in the Southeast Asian Region.

The provincial government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Trade and Industry and the YCH group, a leading logistics and supply chain provider.

This would get the ball rolling on the plan to put up the smart logistics infrastructure, according to the Batangas public information office.

“Pangunahing hangarin ng partnership ang gawing opisyal ang commitment na makabuo ng isang feasibility study para sa isang smart logistics infrastructure, na kabahagi ng Smart Growth Connect (SGConnect), isa sa mga legacy projects ng ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC),” it said on Facebook.

Once completed, the project would be the first logistics hub in the country of the Singapore-based company, and the area would host the advanced supply chain nerve centre operations that would focus on connectivity, sustainability, scalability, and agility, it said.

“Inaasahang matutugunan ng proyektong ito sa Batangas ang mga pangangailangan ng lumalagong ekonomiya sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Pilipinas at isulong ang intra-ASEAN trade connectivity,” it said.

The project is also expected to boost livelihood, trade, investment, and economic development in Batangas and the Calabarzon region, it added.

Batangas Gov. Dodo Mandanas expressed gratitude for the participation of the province in the Smart Growth Connect project.
