Mulanay Mayor JT Ojeda, rival Aries Aguirre clash during peace covenant signing

Apr 21, 2022 @ 11:35

The recent peace covenant signing in Quezon, which is meant to ensure orderly elections, turned into a battleground for rivals in the race for Mulanay mayor.

Mulanay Mayor JT Ojeda said in a statement that his rival Aries Aguirre made a scene and verbally attacked him during the event.

But Aguirre had a different story and said it was Ojeda who blew his top after interrupting Aguirre’s conversation with another official.

In a statement, Ojeda said he and Aguirre were assigned to the same table and made to sit beside each other during the event.

He said Aguirre uttered foul words at him, leading to a verbal tussle between them.

He told Aguirre that they should just face each other on May 9, but the latter supposedly said he did not care about the peace covenant.

Ojeda said he kept his composure.

Aguirre, in an interview he posted on Facebook, said it was Ojeda who attacked first.

He said that while they were seated at the table, he and another official were talking about the problems they have faced and the black propaganda that have been taking place during the campaign.

Out of the blue, Ojeda interrupted them and accused him of making innuendoes, he said.

He then told Ojeda that it was actually his camp which has been badmouthing him.

Ojeda later made a scene and called the attention of election officials, and also raised his voice while accusing Aguirre of creating trouble.
