With PNP in charge, Imus bishop hopeful priest’s kidnapping will be resolved

Imus Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista has expressed trust that investigators will be able to solve the kidnapping of Fr. Leoben Peregrino.

“Pertinent to the case, the Diocese of Imus and the Peregrino Family trust the competence of various government agencies especially the Philippine National Police (PNP) in charge of the investigation that they will come up with a comprehensive report on the matter,” said Evangelista in a statement.

The prelate issued the statement following the kidnapping of Peregrino.

Peregrino, who is the rector and parish priest of the Most Holy Rosary in Rosario, Cavite, was reported missing on April 1 and was found alive in Silang, Cavite on April 3.

Meanwhile, Evangelista assured that Peregrino is “now in a stable condition.”

“He is currently recuperating in a medical facility in the Province of Cavite,” the bishop said.
