General Mariano Alvarez Mayor Maricel Torres offers scholarships to detainees

Being incarcerated is no reason to be uneducated, according to General Mariano Alvarez Mayor Maricel Torres who will be sponsoring the education of persons deprived of liberty.
Torres has teamed up with the Preso Foundation to help PDLs who do not know how to read or write.
She said the PDL scholars would go through three levels of the learning system.
The Preso Foundation would take care of the education of those in level 1, while she would help those in level 2 and 3, she said.
“Mahal ko po ang bawat GMAnian, maging ang mga kapatid natin na nasa bilangguan,” the mayor said on Facebook.
