New evacuation center opens in Alitagtag

The municipality of Alitgatag is no stranger to emergencies given its proximity to Taal volcano.
The town is now more prepared to handle these events with the inauguration of its new evacuation center.
The evacuation center, located in Barangay San Juan, was turned over to the local government on March 30, according to Alitagtag’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
The P40 million facility would cater to the needs of individuals during disasters, the MDRRMO said.
It houses the regional health unit, the MDRRM office, a play area for children, a community kitchen, a prayer room, and bathrooms, it said.
“This is a manifestation that the municipality of Alitagtag is ready to serve the Alitagtagenyos and nearby municipalities in times of disaster,” it said.
