Antipolo City swabs pigeons

Feb 28, 2022 @ 9:08

It’s not just people who are getting swabbed in Antipolo.

The city conducted cloacal swabbing on pigeons and collected their blood as well.

But this is not related to COVID-19 testing.

The swabs and blood were collected to be tested for avian influenza or bird flu, according to Mayor Andrea Ynares.

“Ito ay isang requirement para sa accreditation permit ng mga pigeon owners,” Ynares said on Facebook.

She also said a negative bird flu test would mean that the bird could be taken to other areas of the country.
