Lucban Mayor Olivier Dator prepares for return of Pahiyas festival
The pandemic has led to the cancelation of many festivals due to distancing rules, but there’s a chance that Lucban’s famous Pahiyas Festival could be held this year.
Lucban Mayor Olivier Dator recently met with the Tourism Promotion Board to discuss the possibility of staging the Pahiyas Festival in May this year.
It is a famous harvest festival where Lucban houses are decorated in gaily-colored rice paper, and usually attracts hordes of visitors.
Dator said tourism officials are supportive of the idea of holding the festival this year.
“Suportado po tayo ng Dept. Of Tourism. Atin pong pupulungin ang ating Pahiyas Festival Executive Committee upang pag usapan ang lahat ng paghahanda at ang pagtitiyak ng ating Health Security,” he said.
This bodes well for tourism in Lucban, he said.
“Abot kamay na po nating maibangon ang Turismo ng Bayan ng Lucban,” he said.
