Santa Rosa Vice Mayor Arnel Gomez honors one of the city’s martial law heroes
Santa Rosa Vice Mayor Arnel Gomez made sure to commemorate the 91st birthday of Gaston “Gasty” Zavalla Ortigas, one of the city’s local heroes who fought against the martial law regime.
In a Facebook post, Gomez said Ortigas was a development manager who resisted the regime and pursued peace and agrarian reform.
Ortigas was given the Aurora Aragon Quezon Peace Award in 1991 and was hailed as one of the four local heroes of Santa Rosa in 1998.
The city celebrates his achievements!
“Alam n’yo ba?
Maligayang kaarawan Gasty!
#SantaRosaTheLionCity,” Gomez posted.
