General Luna to give double pay to single LGU personnel on Valentine’s Day
Singles may be loveless on Valentine’s Day, but in General Luna, single local government employees would not be cashless.
General Luna Mayor Matt Florido announced on Facebook that municipal hall employees who are single or who do not have a boyfriend or girlfriend would get double pay on February 14.
He has signed an executive order designating February 14 as a special day for single employees, he said.
The funds for this initiative would be taken from his own pocket, he said.
“Ang kabayaran para sa double pay na benepisyo ng mga empleyadong makakasama sa programa ay kukunin mula sa aking sariling pera, sa sweldo ko ng Pebrero 15, 2022,” he said.
To get the double pay, single LGU employees should register at the Municipal Human Resource Office and provide the details on how long they have been single and why.
He also advised personnel to be honest and said the mayor’s office could investigate the claims of singlehood.
If an LGU employee does not want to work on the 14th and chooses to use the day to do some soul searching, he or she could enjoy paid leave, he said.
While offering this bonus, he still hopes more LGU personnel have found love.
“Last year, 43 kayong single. Sana naman this year, konte na lang,” he said.
