Lucban Mayor Oli Dator challenges Vice Mayor to face off over delayed budget
Things are heating up in Lucban over the delayed approval of its 2022 budget.
Lucban Mayor Oli Dator challenged Vice Mayor Moises Villaseñor to a face off so that the people of the town would know what really happened regarding the Sangguniang Bayan’s failure to approve the spending plan for this year.
In a Facebook post, Dator said Villaseñor should lay out his claims before the people.
Villaseñor had said that the approval was hampered by the failure of department heads and other officials to answer the council’s questions about the details of the budget.
He also said he was just one vote in the council, and other members opted to thumb it down as well.
It was not his fault that Dator had few allies in the council, he added.
He likewise castigated the Dator for mouthing expletives against the council members over the budget issue.
Dator, for his part, said the Vice Mayor should also explain his treatment of the local government’s department heads as well as the accusations he made against them during the budget hearings.
Villaseñor was also absent for most of the budget hearings, he said.
The mayor said he was only thinking of the welfare of the people.
