Santa Rosa Vice Mayor Arnel Gomez is vying for a chance to serve the city as mayor.
Gomez will challenge incumbent Mayor Arlene Arcillas for the position.
In a Facebook post, Gomez said he was taking on the challenge to serve as mayor to bring about a better Santa Rosa.
He asked for prayers for him, his family, and Santa Rosa City and its residents.
Will the city have a new mayor next year?
