Bike for Justice and Peace: Mayor Vince Soriano remembers Absalon cousins
Pakil, Laguna Mayor Vince Soriano stand in solidarity with the families of Keith and Nolven Absalon who died last month when an improvised explosive device planted by communist rebels in Masbate City was detonated while they are biking with their family.
In a Facebook post, the Politiko shared a photo of himself riding a bicycle to mark the 40th day of the Absalon cousins’ untimely death.
He urged the public to stand united to end insurgency and violence in the country.
“Magkaisa na po tayong lahat na mawakasan na ang insureksiyon, pagkakawatak-watak at karahasan dito sa ating bansa. Bago po ang ideolohiya, ang dapat po nating isipin ay iisa ang ating lahi, na pare-parehong tayong mga Filipino,” Soriano said.
Keith Absalon was a football student-athlete from the Far Eastern University. He was a member of the Philippine team that played in the AFF Under-19 Championships in Indonesia.
The CPP-NPA took full responsibility for the death of the Absalon cousins and even asked forgiveness from the victims’ families in a statement that was widely condemned by the public
