House OKs bill declaring Magtayob falls a tourist destination

The House of Representatives has approved a measure declaring Magtayob falls in Rizal town, Palawan a tourism destination.
House Bill 9364 was approved with 206 affirmative votes, no negative and six abstentions.
Under the measure the development of Magtayob falls, located in Barangay Bunog, Rizal town will be prioritized by the Department of Tourism (DOT).
The DOT, in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and other concerned agencies will prepare a tourism development plan that shall include the construction, installation and maintenance of appropriate facilities and infrastructure to enhance the tourism in the area within one year from the enactment of the law.
Magtayob falls has been recognized due to its refreshing water and serene environment.
“With the increasing number of guests, Magtayob falls needs the proper protection and funding for its sustainable and ecologically sound management which shall benefit locals, invite more tourists and maximize its awesome tourism potential,” the explanatory note of the bill read.
The measure was sponsored by Laguna Rep. Sol Aragones, ACT-CIS Rep. Eric Go Yap and Palawan Rep. Cyrille Abueg-Zaldivar.
