2022 polls: Vilma Santos declines 1Sambayan’s nomination
House deputy speaker and Batangas Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto has turned down an offer of the 1Sambayan Coalition to be one of its six nominees for the presidential and vice-presidential slots in the 2022 national elections.
In a Facebook post, the actress-turned-Politiko said she has no plans for 2022, adding that she is currently focused in addressing the COVID-19 situation in Lipa City.
“I sincerely thank 1SAMBAYAN for considering me. I have no plans for 2022. I am focused in assisting Lipa City in its vaccination program and in providing assistance to families who need it most. Furthermore, I have my legislative duties to attend to,” the lawmaker said in a brief statement.
Aside from Santos-Recto, the five other nominees announced were Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Grace Poe, former Senator Antonio ‘’Sonny’’ Trillanes IV, CIBAC Party-list Representative Eddie Villanueva, and lawyer Chel Diokno.
