The House of Representatives has approved a measure declaring Regina Rica in Tanay, Rizal a tourist destination.
With 179 affirmative votes, no negative and six abstention votes, House Bill 8967 was approved on third and final reading. The measure was transmitted to the Senate.
The measure mandates the Department of Tourism (DOT) to establish a tourism center in the area to be known as the Regina Rica Tourism Center.
A development plan will be created by the DOT with the help of concerned government agencies.
Rizal Rep. Fidel Nograles, principal author of the measure said Regina Rica hosts a scenic complex featuring elevated path often visited as a place of prayer, pilgrimage and finding peace.
“Developing and enhancing the beauty of this ecological sanctuary and wellness environment will surely generate investment and foreign exchange in the area, while providing employment opportunities for the local government and residents within the area,” said Nograles.
