Eco-friendly! Sta. Maria Mayor Cindy Carolino welcomes new shredder-composter from DENR
Sta. Maria Mayor Cindy Carolino welcomed the new Biodegradable Waste Composter and Shredder from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The new machine will help the municipality comply with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
In a Facebook post, Carolino said the machine was turned over last Friday, Feb. 26 in a ceremony attended by Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez and other local chief executives in the province.
The mayor underscored that the Coronavirus pandemic worsened the problem on waste management as people use more disposable items to protect themselves from the contagious respiratory illness.
Carolino then thanked the DENR for the machine and urged her constituents to help curb the problem on waste by properly managing their waste.
