Pride fighter! Cavite Board Member Kerby Salazar laments arrest of LGBTQ members, vows to fight for them
Cavite Board Member Kerby Salazar grew up in a loving and accepting home where his sexual orientation and preference are warmly embraced..
But the outside world is different, and Salazar himself has experienced being discriminated against just because he is gay.
This has spurred him to work harder to prove his worth. and he is using this determination to help fellow members of the LGBTQ community.
In a Facebook post, he bewailed the arrest of LGBTQ group members marching for pride month. The reason for the arrest is still unclear, he noted.
Pride is about protesting discrimination and promoting accepting, and he vowed to join the members of the community in this fight.
He will wave the rainbow flag high!
“Mapalad akong magmula sa Pamilya na may pagtanggap at pagmamahal. Ang Papa Jose at Mama Lucy ko, laging pinapaalala kung gaano nila ako kamahal at gaano sila kaproud sa akin. Ang mga Kapatid ko, iba ang pagmamahal sa akin. Ang mga Uncle at Auntie ko, I’m their Princess, Special mention ko lang si Tito Van, Ninang Daisy at Ninang Jona who never fails to support, care and love me.
Pero paglabas ko, just like every LGBTQ, I get discriminated. Iba pa rin ang tingin nila sa akin, even sa opportunities. Some, I missed simply because I am gay.
Kaya mula pagkabata katulad ng bawat isang LGBTQ, I strive to work harder. I work double to prove my worth.
I, too am a victim or stereotyping. Na porke bakla ka, ganito ka. Ilang beses na din ako naloko, ilang beses na din napapunta sa difficult situation.
But we are strong, we are beautiful and God loves us all. Today’s Pride March breaks my heart, some of our colleagues were arrested for reasons still not clear up to this very hour.
Pride, since the beginning is a protest. Pride, since the beginning had helped a lot of people accept who they really are and own their spotlight. Pride, since the beginning is ours.
Today, I join you and every day I will fight with you. Never again can they dim our light. Never again will our rainbow lose its brightness. Never again.
Happy Pride Miloves! Carry on, we still have a long way to go pero kung wala ni isa sa atin na bibitaw at wala ni isa sa atin na susuko, mapapagtagumpayan natin ang laban! 💕🌱🏳️🌈 #ThisGayCAN #Pride2020,” Salazar posted.
