Pag-unlad para sa lahat! Lani Mercado: Bacoor reclamation projects to provide jobs
Bacoor, Cavite Mayor Lani Mercado said the proposed 420-hectare reclamation projects in the city will generate over 700,000 jobs for residents and people in adjacent areas who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mercado said Tuesday, June 23, that the reclamation projects will also provide Bacoor with at least P1.8 billion in additional income from tourism alone.
“Sa panahon pong ito na marami sa ating mga kababayan, kasama na ang libu-libong OFW na nawalan ng hanapbuhay at mapagkakakitaan dahil sa coronavirus, mas lalo po nating kailangan isulong ang proposed reclamation project na ito,” she said.
Mercado had emphasized the economic gains from the twin reclamation projects in a public hearing conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. She also assured that the in-city relocation and job generation component of the project will adhere to key strategies the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) identified under its Manila Bay Sustainable Development Master Plan.
The mayor also gave her commitment that the city’s famous mussels and oyster industry which produces around 6,000 gallons of mussels daily, would continue to thrive along with the reclamation projects.
