Sol Aragones stands up for ABS-CBN amid franchise woes
Laguna Rep. Sol Aragones is taking up the cudgels for ABS-CBN as its franchise application remains pending in the House of Representatives.
Aragones spoke on June 1 during the congressional hearing on ABS-CBN’s franchise to express support for the embattled network.
In her speech, the lawmaker said ABS-CBN deserves to remain on air.
“Over and above the news and entertainment, Abs-cbn stood for then, as it stands for now, in the service of the Filipino. This is my personal knowledge. This is my personal experience,” she said in sponsoring her bill renewing ABS-CBN’s franchise for another 25 years.
Aragones worked at ABS-CBN as a reporter for over a decade before entering politics.
