DPWH completes conversion of Biñan sports arena into COVID-19 facility
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the conversion of Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna into a 68-bed capacity health facility for COVID-19 patients.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said repurposing the sports arena took only a week.
“Through the consolidated efforts of the DPWH Region 4A and the Department of Health, we were able deliver a new health facility to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID),” he said.
The Alonte Sports Arena is the tenth “We Heal as One” Center dedicated to address health facility shortage in the country.
It is equipped with nursing stations, sanitation chambers, and designated storage areas which standard facilities of DPWH-completed makeshift hospital.
