‘Di pa back to normal! Jonvic Remulla mulls tightening restrictions in Cavite again
Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla is considering imposing tighter restrictions on the movement of people in the province again amid reports of huge crowds gathering at public places over the weekend.
In a Facebook post, Remulla said the imposition of general community quarantine (GCQ) in Cavite does not mean people can go out of their homes like they used to.
“GCQ is not a FREEDOM PASS… Ang dami nagdagsaan sa mga mall at iba pang lugar na tingin nila ‘Back to Normal’ na. Sa ganyan ugali ay baka higpitan ko muli ang Ikot ng tao, restricted to those essential only,” he said.
Remulla said he will study imposing stricter restrictions on the movement of people in Cavite if the number of COVID-19 cases rise sharply in the coming days.
Malls have been allowed to reopen in GCQ areas provided that social distancing and sanitation protocols are strictly followed.
However, social media posts showed crowds trooping to the malls on the first day of Cavite’s designation as a GCQ area on May 16, in disregard of the stay at home rule.
