Bayanihan is alive: Kit Nieto gets rice sacks from Catholic group
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis has brought out the bayanihan spirit among Filipinos, particularly in Cainta, Rizal.
Mayor Kit Nieto shared on Facebook Saturday, April 4, that the Catholic organization Krus ng Nayon donated 40 sacks of rice for Cainta residents.
He described the gesture as the group’s way if giving back for the local government’s help in staging the “senakulo” during Holy Week.
“Taon taon, tinutulungan namin kayo sa inyong pagtatanghal ng senakulo. Ngayon, binabalik niyo sa amin ang tulong para itulong din namin sa mga apektadong Cainteno,” Nieto said.
The mayor said he’s thankful that residents and groups in Cainta are taking the lead in helping the community in a time of crisis.
