Eric Africa clarifies: Closure of Lipa public markets ‘fake news’
There’s no truth to reports that public markets in Lipa will close amid the ongoing enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, Mayor Eric Africa said.
In a Facebook post, Africa appealed to the public not to resort to panic buying as public markets in the city will remain open.
“Bukas po ang ating palengke pero kailangan po nating mag-maintain ng social distancing,” he said.
Africa said the city government is in talks with the Department of Interior and Local Government to ensure checkpoints are strictly enforced in the city.
At the barangay level, only those who have quarantine pass or exempted from the quarantine will be allowed to leave their homes.
