Nini Ynares suspends transport of gravel, sand from Rizal quarrying operations
Rizal Governor Nini Ynares has temporarily suspended the transport of gravel, sand and other aggregate materials from quarrying operations in the province amid the enhanced community lockdown in Luzon.
In Executive Order No. 9 signed March 16, Ynares said the allowing the transportation of aggregate materials from quarrying sites will cause traffic among major thoroughfares in the province, particularly at the checkpoints.
She said suspending the transportation of gravel and sand ensures the health, safety and welfare of the public amid the enhanced community quarantine.
“As a precautionary measure and in support of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s instruction to prevent and minimize the spread of and exposure to COVID-19, there is an urgent need to temporarily suspend the transport and hauling of gravel and sand and other aggregate materials to and from this province,” Ynares said.
The suspension will remain in place until Duterte lifts the public health emergency declaration over COVID-19, the governor said.
