Kit Nieto steps up preventive measures after Cainta resident tests positive for coronavirus
Cainta, Rizal Mayor Kit Nieto has ordered the distribution of disinfectants, face masks and Vitamin C tablets to residents of Filinvest East Subdivision after a man living there tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Nieto confirmed that a resident of Cainta is one of the three new cases of COVID-19 in the country online by sharing a post written by his wife in a private Facebook group.
Elen Nieto is the head of the Filinvest East Homeowners Association.
A 62-year-old man who runs a stall at Greenhills Shopping Center tested positive for COVID-19, the first local case in the country. He lives at Blake Street, Phase 3 of Filinvest East Subdivision.
In a Facebook post, Nieto said the distribution of face masks and disinfectants is a preventive measure against the spread of the virus.
“Paniguro lang kahit na hindi naman talaga sila nagkaroon ng personal contact sa pasyente,” he said.
In accordance with the Department of Health’s directive, Nieto said the movements of individuals living with the patient have been restricted even though he has been out of the house for more than a week.
He said a team has been assigned by local health authorities to look after the welfare of the patient’s kin who are now quarantined at their house.
