Sweet Halili orders power, water supply cut off in Tanauan: Para wala nang bumalik!
Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Sweet Halili has ordered the disconnection of power and water supply to 21 barangays within the 14-kilometer danger zone around Taal Volcano amid its unrest.
Halili told reporters on January 17 that she made the decision to discourage residents from returning to their homes.
She said local authorities have promised to rescue the residents’ animals so they don’t have to go back to the barangays within the danger zone.
“Ang sa akin naman ang gagawin ko naman, kung ano yung rason kung bakit sila pumunta doon ay kukunin ko na lang, dadalhin ko rito, para hindi na sila pumunta doon,” Halili said.
Authorities have imposed a mandatory lockdown in towns within the danger zone as Taal Volcano’s eruption remains a threat. Some residents, however, appeal to local officials to allow them to return to their homes to retrieve their valuables and animals.
