Batangas gov’t clarifies: Meningococcemia scare ‘false alarm
The provincial government of Batangas has denied that meningococcemia was the cause of death of a woman recently in Alangilan, Batangas City.
Batangas Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rosvilinda Ozaeta said Friday there is no case of meningococcemia in Batangas City or anywhere in the province.
Rumors spread about a suspected case of meningococcemia in the province after a woman who arrived from United Arab Emirates died at a local hospital in Tanauan on September 21.
Meanwhile, Ozaeta said there are no results yet for the tests conducted on three individuals with suspected cases of meningococcemia.
Ozaeta urged netizens to refrain from believing in and spreading fake news on meningococcemia and other diseases online.
