Masungi ang peg: Fidel Nograles urges companies to pursue sustainable tourism
Rizal Rep. Fidel Nograles has urged private companies to take a page from the Masungi Georeserve’s book and practice sustainable tourism after it was recognized as one of the most sustainable and innovative tourism projects worldwide.
Nograles, in whose district Masungi can be found, said private companies could adapt the georeserve’s best practices to teach tourists on how to enjoy while taking care of the environment.
Hindi pwedeng magpaiwan ang pamahalaan sa private sector pagdating sa conservation efforts. It is, after all, government’s duty to secure the interests and patrimony of the people,” he said.
The Masungi Georeserve was cited earlier this month by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), St. Petersburg, Russia., as one of three leading private sector-led tourism projects in the world.
Nograles has filed House Bill No. 2639 seeking to declare Masungi Georeserve as a tourist destination.
Should the bill become a law, proper infrastructure to support tourism will be set up in and around the tourist destination.
