Bong Go helps over 900 fire victims in Cainta, bats for creation of permanent evacuation centers
The August 21 holiday due to the commemoration of former senator Benigno Aquino Jr.’s death anniversary didn’t stop Senator Bong Go from helping those in need.
Go traveled to Cainta, Rizal on Wednesday to help the 953 individuals who were affected by a fire that broke out on August 19 in Barangay San Isidro.
The fire victims received financial assistance, lunch and grocery packs from Go and his supporters.
Go also assured the affected parents that he will take care of the uniform and school supplies of the children so that they can go back to school immediately.
Representatives from various government agencies, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, National Housing Authority, and Department of Trade and Industry, were also present to help the victims with their other needs.
With disasters a common occurrence in the country, Go said there should be permanent evacuation centers for displaced Filipinos.
He said the proposal for the construction of permanent evacuation centers is included in Senate Bill No. 205, or the proposed Disaster Resilience Act of 2019.
The bill seeks to create a Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR).
