Special treatment! Strike Revilla wants OFWs, dependents to have own hospital
Cavite Rep. Strike Revilla has proposed the creation of a hospital for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents to ensure their good health.
Revilla filed House Bill 440 for the establishment of an OFW hospital that will be under the supervision of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
“OFW remittances contribute largely to the economy. Their indispensable role cannot be taken for granted. Because of this, aside from their skills, it is important they possess good health,” he said.
Under the bill, the OFW hospital will provide comprehensive and total healthcare services to OFWs, including OWWA contributors, whether active or non-active, as well as their legal dependents.
The hospital will also conduct physical examinations to ensure the physical and mental capability of Filipinos wanting to work abroad, who are covered by an approved job order.
The OFW hospital is envisioned to have a tertiary level of care. It will be under the full administrative and technical supervision of the Department of Health.
