Walang budget kay baby? Water bottles used as oxygen masks at Laguna hospital
Where does Laguna’s budget for healthcare go?
Netizens are demanding answers from the local government after a Facebook user posted photos of newborn babies breathing through improvised oxygen masks at the J.P. Rizal Memorial Hospital in Calamba City.
Based on photos posted by netizen Hacelito Seva, the improvised oxygen masks were fashion out of half gallon water bottles which were cut in half.
The cut plastic bottles are connected to the oxygen tank through a tube. They are placed over the babies’ heads.
As of Monday morning, Seva’s post has garnered over 2,000 comments and 13,000 shares.
Seva appealed for help from the local government and Department of Health so the hospital will have proper oxygen masks for babies.
The comments’ section of Seva’s post was filled with remarks expressing dismay over the sorry state of the hospital.
“Pinaganda lng yung Jp Hospital pero kulang kulang sa mga gamit .. ! Ang Susungit pa ng mga Nurse . !” said netizen Mary Lyn Mamauag Dalangin.
“The point is kung may vudget ibili na agad ng mga gamit wag ng mag improvise baka mka sama pa sa mga baby,” said netizen Loren Galman Manrilla.
