Unli surf na! Danny Suarez announces free wifi in Perez Park
Residents of Quezon province can now surf the internet for free for as long as they want to.
Governor Danny Suarez announced Tuesday the launch of free wifi at Perez Park in Laguna.
Suarez said the project was made possible by the provincial government and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
“Pumunta na para maka-konek,” he said in a Facebook post.
DICT has been working to increase the number of areas with free wifi access in accordance with Republic Act 10929 or the Free Internet in Public Places Act.
The law mandates the DICT to ensure there is free wifi in national and local government offices, public basic education institutions; public hospitals, health centers, and rural health units; public parks, plazas, libraries, and barangay reading centers; public airports and seaports and public transport terminals.
