Cavite offers free maintenance medicines for senior citizens

Jun 5, 2019 @ 14:42

NOVELETA, Cavite — Free maintenance medicines for senior citizens, especially for those with hypertension and diabetes, are now available at the local health office.

The local government launched here Monday the “Free Maintenance Medicines for Senior Citizens” to ease the burden of the elderly due to the high cost of medicines.

Mayor Dino Chua said the town’s senior citizens could avail of common maintenance drugs, such as Lozartan 50 grams, Amlodipine 5 grams, Simvastatine 40 grams, Metformin 500 grams, and Gliclazide 30 grams, at the municipal health office.

“Malaking bagay po para sa aming mga senior citizens ang libreng gamot. Mabibili na po namin ito ng iba pang pangangailangan namin sa araw-araw (This free medicine would be of great help to us senior citizens. We could use our money instead for other daily expenses),” Gloria Fernandez, a senior citizen from Poblacion, said during an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The town mayor also assured senior citizens of other much-requested benefits aside from free medicines, such as free movie passes for them at the SM Rosario cinemas, as well as the “Doc-to-Door” medical consultation program. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
