Sandiganbayan junks Quezon mayor Alega’s plea to dismiss graft case
The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division has remained firm in its decision not to quash the graft case against San Francisco, Quezon Mayor Joselito Alega for failing to release the year-end bonus and cash gift to a municipal employee.
The anti-graft court has issued a resolution which junked Alega’s motion for reconsideration.
“The hard reality is that the accused-movants failed to raise matters substantially plausible or compellingly persuasive to warrant their desired course of action,” the court ruled.
The court pointed out Alega’s arguments are “a matter of defense which is best ventilated and passed upon during the trial of the case.”
The case stemmed from the complaint filed by municipal employee Noel Castillejo.
The complainant alleged that in 2014 he failed to receive his year-end bonus and cash gift amounting to P36,852.
