Duterte declares April 4 a non-working day in Antipolo
President Rodrigo Duterte has declared April 4, 2019 a special non-working day in Antipolo to commemorate the 21st year since it became a city.
The holiday was formalized in Proclamation No. 695 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Tuesday.
In declaring April 4 as a special non-working day, Malacañang said “it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Antipolo be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.”
Antipolo became a city by virtue of Republic Act 8508 authored by the late Rizal Rep. Gilberto “Bibit” Duavit, Sr.
Mayor Jun Ynares, in a Facebook post, thanked Duterte for granting the residents’ request for a non-working day to celebrate Antipolo’s cityhood.
