Danny Suarez hopes Duterte signs 2019 budget soon: Wala nang pera mga ospital!
House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez is hoping that President Rodrigo Duterte will sign the proposed P3.757-trillion national budget for 2019 soon for the sake of poor people in need of medical assistance.
In a press briefing Tuesday, Suarez said public hospitals already lack funds due to the delay in the implementation of this year’s national budget.
“Every year, the Congress appropriates funds for public hospitals to accommodate the medical needs of our constituents. However, despite our issuance of guarantee letters for the release of medical funds, we find our constituents coming back to our offices due to the lack of medicines, medical equipment and funds in public hospitals,” he said.
Suarez, who represents the 3rd district of Quezon in the House of Representatives, warned that poor Filipinos may suffer if Duterte drags his foot on signing the 2019 budget into law.
“Once passed, we expect the DOH to cause immediate and transparent implementation of the much needed programs funded by the budget,” he said.
The proposed General Appropriations Act of 2019 was ratified by the House of Representatives and Senate in February.
