Alfonso town VM Salamat surrenders gun to police
ALFONSO, Cavite — Mayoralty bet and incumbent vice mayor Randy Salamat voluntarily surrendered his service firearm for safekeeping at the office of the town police chief here in support of the campaign for a peaceful mid-term election.
Chief Insp. Rheden Manalo, Alfonso police chief, received the caliber 9mm pistol, Pietro Beretta, with serial number D91519Z, 1 magazine and 15 live ammunition from Salamat on Tuesday (Jan. 15).
Police have called on all 19 local candidates to voluntarily surrender their firearms to the station for safekeeping.
Salamat, of PDP-Laban, is being challenged by independent bet Raul Rodis for the mayoralty, while incumbent 7th District Board member and vice mayor candidate Reinalynne Varias will challenge Madona Pel of PDP-Laban.
