Kaya may motorcade! Jun Ynares reveals Nazareno’s ‘Antipolo connection’
Residents of Antipolo probably see the image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage returning to the city in a motorcade from Metro Manila, but what’s the reason behind it?
Mayor Jun Ynares on Sunday shared the connection between Mary’s image and Quiapo churchin light of the recent feast of the Black Nazarene.
In his Manila Bulletin column, Ynares shared that the image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage was brought to Quiapo Church during the second World War to prevent it from being vandalized or stolen.
Quiapo Church is the home of the image of the Black Nazarene.
“After the war, the image of the was brought back to Antipolo. A motorcade bearing the Lady’s image from Quiapo to Antipolo is held every year to commemorate her safe return to her home,” Ynares explained.
