Erin Tañada urges end of impunity in PH
Senatorial candidate Erin Tañada on December 10 called for the end of impunity in the country.
The Quezon politiko slammed “the systematic, planned and state-enforced killings of suspected drug users in the country.”
Tañada lamented that more than 20,000 drug-related killings have been reported as “accomplishments” by the Philippine National Police.
“Shall we watch the numbers rise before we finally stand against impunity’s reign in our country?” he asked.
Tañada reiterated that the right to life and security of every person must be protected.
“While rampant drug use is a problem, fighting it never gives the government license to disregard Constitutional and international legal obligations,” he said.
