Erin Tañada: No to mandatory ROTC
Senatorial candidate Erin Tañada said he is against the proposal to make the Reserve Officers Training Course (ROTC) mandatory in Senior High School.
The Quezon politiko said the government should focus on making students employable in the digital economy.
Tañada said students need relevant skills in digital technology not militarization.
“We need to prepare our students for the employment challenges of a digital global economy,” he said.
“Instead of pursuing militarization and imposing the ROTC program, we should focus on giving our youth the relevant skills and competency they truly need to stand out and compete with the rest of the world,” he added.
