Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto said the Senate is eyeing the passage of the Rice Tarrification bill before the end of the year.

The Batangas politiko said the proposed measure aims to curb the continued rise of inflation.

“Sa Senado ay nakasalang sa diskusyon ang Rice Tariffication bill na ini-sponsor ni Senator Cynthia Villar. Hinahabol naming maipasa ito bago matapos ang taon upang maka­tulong sa pagbawas ng inflation,” Recto said.

He explained that the rice tariffs will be used to help farmers.

“Dapat lang siguruhin na ang lahat ng makukuhang duties o buwis mula sa taripa ng bigas ay magagamit para tulungan ang mga magsasakang madagdagan ang kaalaman sa farming at produksyon ng bigas,” Recto said.
