Nov 6, 2018 @ 17:25

Former Quezon 4th District Representative Erin Tañada on November 3 recalled his grandfather’s gift to him after he passed the the Bar Exam.

The Quezon politiko said former senator Lorenzo Tañada handed him an envelope full of cash as a reward.

“Despite being tired and on his sick bed, he rose and proudly handed me a thick envelope full of cash. I was happy and thankful but almost embarrassed at the thought of my lolo giving me so much money – only to find out that the envelope was full of P10 bills, for a grand total of P300,” Tañada said.

“It was the sweetest P300 I ever got in my whole life,” he added.

He said the pressure for him to pass the Bar was “difficult and unrelenting.”

“How could it not be, given my family background? My lolo was one of the country’s longest serving Senators. My tatay was then currently serving as a Senator. And here I was, trying my best to study the laws of the land, laws that my lolo and my tatay had a hand in creating,” Tañada said.
