Quezon 3rd District Representative Danilo Suarez, in a resolution, expressed the House of Representatives’ “support” for Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s proposal to withdraw from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Arroyo made the proposal after the IPU, a global organization of lawmakers, criticized the Duterte administration.

The IPU expressed concern over the human rights violations against Senators Leila de Lima and Antonio Trillanes.

In his resolution, Suarez said the House supports Arroyo’s proposal to withdraw.

“Therefore, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved, for the House of Representatives to express its support for the withdrawal of the membership of the Philippines from the Inter-Parliamentary Union,” House Resolution 2270 said.
